Is Yoga just practicing on the mat? I don’t think so. What you learn on the mat, you take with you into everyday life.
In the Critical Alignment Yoga classes you move to your edges in a safe environment: where is the tension? You then observe your reactions. Do you flee, fight or freeze? What is your automatic – often unconscious – response? This is interesting, because this same behaviour also occurs in everyday life when you are experiencing stress.
Becoming aware of these automatic responses during yoga class is an opportunity, perhaps for the first time, to break through them and find an answer based on relaxation. If you learn this on the mat, you will be able to apply it under other circumstances as well. Yoga on the mat is like practicing in the wading pool, so you can swim when you jump into the deep.
